It does seem short sighted concerning video
The press release spoke of the fan experience and challenges of people in the stands as the main reasons. All true and very understandable.
So with that in mind, why not make it a video only event, either on ACCN if available, or perhaps with a partner like the Roanoke TV affiliates, or a live stream put out on some or all of the VT sites and social media? Doesn't VT have production facilities on campus now to support the ACC Network? Doesn't VT have students who would kill to produce a video production of a college football game? Doesn't VT have the tech to support this?
Heck, the brand new VT women's club ice hockey team had their championship game against NC State last week on YouTube, and they have a budget for the whole team of under $5k. Something is seriously wrong here.
